4th of July Activities: Atlanta, Alpharetta, Marietta, Decatur, etc.

Our nation’s birthday celebration is going to be bigger than ever this year. Since the 4th falls on a Saturday there are many events being held throughout the whole weekend.

Happy 4th of July - Atlanta, GA area

Here’s a selected list, organized alphabetically by location, of festivities in the greater Atlanta area:

Callaway Gardens, Robin Lake Beach: July 3rd – 5th

  • Beach Activities: 10 am – 7 pm. Paddle boarding, rock climbing wall, water slide, flying trapeze.
  • Live music starting at 7 pm. A different band performs live each night; the blues and rock band Swingin’ Medallions will take the stage before the fireworks set off on the 4th.
  • Circus Performances: 3:30 – 6 pm; FSU Flying High Circus perform trapeze acts, high-wire walks, juggling performances, and more.

Centennial Olympic Park, Great Lawn: July 4th — 6pm

East Point Commons: Red, White, & Blue Hometown Celebration: July 5th — 5 pm

  • Carnival, food court, live music, vendors, and fireworks at 9:30 pm Bring blankets and chairs but no food. Free. For information, click here.

Georgia Aquarium:   July 4th — 7-10 pm

  • Red White & Brew – Oceans Ballroom. Includes unlimited beer, a BBQ buffet, and live music plus great views of the Centennial Olympic Park fireworks from the parking deck. Proceeds benefit Georgia Aquarium’s Sponsored Education Admissions program, teacher development and H20 summer camps. Non-member: $55; Member: $45
  • Red White & View ­— a family version with great views of the Centennial Olympic Park fireworks show. 7:30-10 pm $15 children; $20 Adults and Seniors.

Lenox Square Mall: July 4th ­­— 6 pm

  • Family-friendly live music, food vendors, and a kids’ zone, followed by fireworks at 9:40 pm. Free.
  • Panoramic view of the fireworks from Whiskey Blue’s outdoor patio on the roof ofW Atlanta – Buckhead.

Peachtree Road Race 10K: July 4th — 6:45 am start

  • Scenic course from Peachtree Road at Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead to Piedmont Park. 55,000 participants in the nation’s second-largest road race. First racers take off at 6:45 am (wheelchair race).

Turner Field All American Fireworks Spectacular: July 4th — 7:35 pm

  • The Atlanta Braves take on the Arizona Diamondbacks; fireworks display after the game choreographed to patriotic music. Tickets to game: $14-$106.

Alpharetta City Pool at Wills Park: July 4th — 6pm

  • Musical entertainment from the Alpharetta City Band and local band Serious Business. Children’s inflatables and food vendors or bring your own picnic. Fireworks after dark. Free.

Buford: Mall of Georgia: July 4th — 5 pm

Cumming:   Fairgrounds:   July 4th.

Decatur: Pied Piper Parade and Fireworks: July 4th —5:30 pm

  • Decorate your wagon, ride your bike, skate, or walk in this event. Parade line-up at the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 5:30 pm. Parade begins at 6 pm. Concert with the Callanwolde Concert Band begins at 7 pm in the Community Bandstand. Fireworks begin at dark.

Hampton: Atlanta Motor Speedway:   Drags & Show-N-Shine Fireworks: July 3rd

  • O’Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags & Show-N-Shine Week Ten / Fireworks Night. Pits Open at 6 pm; Grandstands open at 6:30 pm, Speedway Cruise at 8:05 pm, drag eliminations at 9:09 pm Competitor entry $20.

Jonesboro: The Beach in Clayton County: July 4th — 6 pm

Marietta: Earl Smith Strand Theatre – July 4th

  • Doors and bar open at 6 pm. Limited to 120 people. $15. Fireworks start between 9 and 9:30 pm. Updated: SOLD OUT. For information, click here.

Norcross: Lillian Webb Park. July 3rd

Snellville: Star-Spangled Snellville. July 4th — 3:30 pm

  • Live music, food and games on the Towne Green in front of City Hall. Events include hula-hoop and watermelon-eating contests, cookie walk and local bands. Fireworks display begins at 9:30 pm. For information, click here.

Stone Mountain: July 3rd – 5th

  • Spectacular laser show and fireworks. Free except parking ($10 for a one-day permit or $35 for an annual permit).
