Hummingbird Nectar Recipe

Parasol hummingbird feedersHummingbirds are one of nature’s little miracles, and always so exciting to see.

If you don’t have  a feeder for them,  I recommend that you get one!  They are quite inexpensive,  and provide tons of enjoyment.

Here is a simple and cheap recipe for the hummingbird nectar:

Take one cup sugar and mix with 4 cups of water.  Stir to dissolve sugar, and you can add 2 drops of red food color if you want.  Keep  any unused solution in the refrigerator.

Do not use sugar substitutes, or honey.  These can be harmful to the birds.  You should clean the feeder with hot water and a bottle brush and replace the sugar solution every three to four days.
