Do you make cookies?

Posted on January 26, 2011. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Atlanta maid house cleaning serviceToo bad I found  this amazing  tip AFTER I  had finished my marathon Christmas baking sessions!   I think it is brilliant and cant wait to try it out when I make Valentine  cookies.

Instead of wrestling with  wax or parchment paper, or taping it down, to roll the cookie dough out on –  all you have to do is just sprinkle the work surface with a bit of water and the paper magically adheres!   Then, use another sheet of paper over the dough to keep it from sticking to the rolling pin!

Oh and if this inspires you to make some cookies, here is my grandmother’s recipe for tea cakes (as she called them).  Or you could just say sugar cookies:

2 cups (slightly less) of  self rising four

1 stick of unsalted butter softened

1 cup sugar

1 large egg

1 Tab. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix all ingredients into stiff dough.  Refrigerate for about 15 minutes and then roll out onto a surface 1/8 inch thick.   Sprinkle with colored sugars if you like.  Bake 6-8 minutes.

Then after you have made a mess of your kitchen call Sponge & Sparkle to shine it up again!!

Shocking! Do you know what’s in your household cleaners?

What’s REALLY under your kitchen sink?

If you aren’t sure what’s in your household cleaners, I suggest you listen to this episode of “Living on Earth” radio show.

Here’s an excerpt:

Most consumers think what they pull off the supermarket shelves is safe, or has been demonstrated as being safe. They would be surprised to learn that a number of the ingredients that are used in cleaning products today may not be as safe as they think. Beyond that, consumers want to be able to purchase the safest products on the market. And, without full ingredient disclosure, they simply can’t make informed or comparative choices.” Urvashi Rangan Environmental Scientist, Director of Technical Policy for Consumer’s Union.

This is why Sponge & Sparkle Cleaning Service doesn’t use harsh cleaners for our clients. Most people do not realize that it is possible to get cleaning results that are just as good if not better than the traditional cleaners. In addition, because we don’t use harsh chemicals your home smells clean.

As one client says:

The thing I like most is the clean smell that lingers after they leave and that they use organic products.

Our cleaning agents haven’t been tested on animals. You can be confident that our cleaners are safe around babies and pets. In our 100% steam cleaning process, we don’t use any cleaning products at all (just the steam itself water heated to 170 degress) which cleans and sanitizes at the same time.

If you need any information about what’s in our cleaning products, feel free to call.
