Happiness is making your bed!

Gretchen Rubin is writing a memoir of a year that she spent test driving the wisdom of the ages, the current scientific studies and the lessons in popular culture on how to be happy.  

The book is  “The Happiness Project“.  She finds that there are many quick and simple things that we can do every day to bolster our happiness levels.  One of those things is making your bed every morning!  Personally I have always thought this, so  I was gratified to hear  that I’ve been onto something deeper than just a  tidy space all these years. 

She says so often it is the little things that we do every day that make us happier.  Making the bed is one of those things that’s quick and easy but makes such a big difference.  Everything is neater,  your bedroom is more peaceful and harmonious,  and when you start your day with making your bed you feel productive, efficient and organized before you even leave the house. 

For most people outer order contributes to inner calm.  Making your bed is a small gesture but that is why it is a good resolution.  Picking one little task to improve your situation and doing it regularly can help in regaining a sense of self mastery and is a good way to energize yourself for tougher situations.
